About the Book: Tim Coles covers the whole construction of a model steam locomotive in a logical sequence giving the beginner and experienced model engineer alike an idea of what is involved an how to go about it. Even if the buyer is not proposing to build a model, the book makes interesting reading. All the photographs and drawings in the book are by the author unless otherwise credited. The book gives a bit of history about model locomotives and how they work with a very interesting drawing of a 'Pacific' type locomotive to show the major components such as the crossheads and coupling rods. Also includes other highly valuable drawings such as the side and end sections of a typical slide valve model cylinder block and steam chest. Chapters: |
