229. The second coat of arms transfer design that adorned many Midland carriages up to 1906 - when the practice was abandoned with the introduction of a new and final coat of arms. The first design, also displayed on carriages, was identical to the second, save that the title was set out MIDLAND RAILWAY COMPANY, left to right.
